Details of some the events that we are running are here
The Village Hall has been buzzing over the last few months!
Whilst on the subject of Monday Minglers, the Village Hall has recently been given a “Winter Pressures Grant” from South Norfolk and Broadland Council. The Winter Pressures Grant was created to allow community organisations to create projects that will support individuals and families struggling with the rising costs of living. The grant was applied for on behalf of Monday Minglers and will be spent on some new games and equipment for them. We have also been awarded, via Brockdish Parish Council, a grant for the purchase of some Pickleball equipment – we will get that started in the New Year – watch this space!
Bar Licence: The good news is that we have been granted a licence to serve alcohol on the premises, within certain times and guidelines. This means we can serve drinks at any of our functions so PLEASE make sure you bring your card or money with you. Please remember that the Bar, as with the Hall, is be run by volunteers. Please be kind to them and be prepared for a small wait for your drinks. None of us are bar staff by trade and it’s not an easy job to do. We’re all very excited about the licence and the mice have been hiccupping their way around under the stage for weeks!
What’s coming up: The Mice are all very excited that Zumba Gold and Zumba are started at the Village Hall on Wednesday 7th January – Zumba Gold will be 6.30pm – 7.15pm, with Zumba starting at 7.30pm until 8.30pm. All classes will cost £6 per person and there is a loyalty scheme which is free to join but excludes the Chair class. If you want to join in please contact Sue on 07771 745917 or email info@cosmicfunfitness.co.uk to reserve your space.
Saturday 7th February: We are hosting a quiz night for a local charity, Frocks for Freedom. Please note that this is very separate from the bi-monthly church quizzes. THE BAR WILL BE OPEN BUT THERE WILL BE NO LIGHT SUPPER. Crisps and snacks will be available from the bar or you are welcome to bring your own. Frocks for Freedom is a local charity, registered number 1213815 selling pre-loved and new clothes to help animals in need. Auctions are held on Facebook every two weeks and the charity is run by our very own Lisa (Bookings Mouse). She has raised an enormous amount of money since she started and has a following not only in the village but nationally too. Further information will be available on the posters in the window, the notice board and Instagram (@frocks_for_freedom18) and Facebook, nearer the time. To book a table for the quiz please call 01379 668416.
We have the Manhunter, Colin Sutton, returning to Brockdish on Friday 27th February 2026, starting at 7.30pm, with tickets costing £5. THE BAR WILL BE OPEN. Colin is a former Detective Chief Inspector for the Metropolitan Police and has led more than 30 successful murder investigations, including Levi Bellfield, during his career. Colin retired to Norfolk in 2011 and has been much in demand for his talks. If you want to enjoy this with us please contact ddon.mackenzie@btinternet.com but don’t hang about.
